A celebration of the life of Phoebe Lee, H.B. Allen Library Director

"Phoebe had a passionate heart for Anson County and the citizens who joined her in calling it home. She was active in many areas of service to include, Anson County Arts Council, Anson County Partnership for Children, Ansonville Historical Society, Anson County Domestic Violence Coalition and volunteered at the SAFE place for battered women.
"Among her greatest loves was her employment with the Sandhills Regional Libray System, which serves Anson, Richmond, Hoke, Moore and Montgomery counties. She found great pleasure in helping provide a place and means for “friends of the library” to read and learn. She took great pride in the services and staff of Hampton B. Allen Library in Wadesboro, of which she was director for many years at the time of her death. Phoebe and the staff there worked hard for the betterment of not only the library and the services offered there but for the patrons, as well. She was also instrumental in the programs offered by The Friends of the Library, which enabled the purchase of new books, general needs of the library and up-keep of the bookmobile. She and the friends worked hard to bring authors and various programs of interest to the events sponsored and offered at the library."
